Daycare and Schools

Commercial Kitchen

Environmental Health specialists regularly inspect school cafeterias and child care facilities for health and safety regulations, ensuring they comply with the Wyoming Department of Family Services licensing procedures and the Cheyenne-Laramie County Food Rule.

While Cheyenne Laramie County Public Health does not require any licenses for childcare facilities, schools must obtain a State of Wyoming Food License.

In addition to health/safety regulations, Environmental Health specialists inspect child care facilities for general safety, toy safety, and sanitation.

Inspections are completed on school cafeterias at least twice a year, and on daycare facilities at least once a year. (You can see the results of all recent school and child care facility inspections here.)

For questions related to inspections, or to speak to an Environmental Health specialist, please call 307.633.4090.

Daycare and School Regulations

Laramie County schools serving food and Child Care Centers (CCC) serving a meal must follow the same food service rules as restaurants.

Childcare facilities in homes (FCCH or FCCC) must follow specific food safety rules but are not as stringent as restaurants and childcare centers.

If you are a school or child care facility operating in the county on a private well or sewer system, you’ll need to meet all applicable rules and regulations regarding water testing and septic system sizing. For questions, please contact Environmental Health at 307.633.4090.
