Communicable Disease Outbreak Response

We conduct surveillance for infectious diseases, investigate communicable disease clusters and outbreaks, and respond to communicable disease outbreaks by providing epidemiology and immunization for those affected.

Immigrant Program

Immigrants in Laramie County can receive affordable HIV/STI testing, Hepatitis C testing, Interferon-Gamma Release Assays (IGRA), or a Mantoux Tuberculin Skin Test (TST).

Note: Testing and vaccination should be utilized in conjunction with immigration physicals performed by your physician.

Serum Titers Blood Tests

Serum Titers blood tests measure whether or not you are immune to a given disease(s). Here at Cheyenne Laramie County Public Health, we can test for:

  • Hepatitis B (Antibody and Antigen)
  • Hepatitis C
  • MMR
  • Varicella

Tuberculosis (TB) Prevention and Screening

Through this program, we identify, evaluate, and treat individuals who are at high risk of being infected with Tuberculosis (TB). We can also provide patient assistance for individuals who need chest X-rays.

Tuberculosis Screening

We provide the following TB testing options:

  • TB Risk Assessment
  • Interferon-Gamma Release Assays (IGRA)
  • Mantoux Tuberculin Skin Test (TST

Screenings are available Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

If you need a TB screening for employment or school, please call 307.633.4000 to make an appointment. Walk-ins are welcome at available screening times only.

Mantoux Tuberculin Skin Test (TST) will be read 48 to 72 hours after placement, at which time we’ll provide written documentation of the screening for your employer.

If you need a TB screening due to exposure, please call 307.633.4000 and ask for a Communicable Disease Nurse. TB screening for exposure is free.

For all positive results, the next step will be a referral to a primary care provider for further testing and diagnosis.

Tuberculosis Treatment and Directly Observed Therapy (DOT)

We use Directly Observed Therapy (DOT) to ensure our patients both receive and take all medications as prescribed, as well as monitor our patients’ response to their treatment for latent or active Tuberculosis.

For individuals in both latent and active Tuberculosis, we collaborate with the Wyoming Department of Health to access patient medication assistance programs and ensure patients can access the medications they need.

Cheyenne Laramie County Public Health works with primary care providers to ensure people diagnosed with Tuberculosis receive any additional tests needed for treatment and follow-up care.

This collaboration helps people stay healthy and prevent the spread of disease within the community.
