The start of a new year is a common time to set new resolutions – one resolution worth keeping is your health. Cheyenne Laramie County Public Health encourages the public to schedule preventive health visits and check your vaccine status to ensure you’re up to date. Regular screenings can help identify concerns early and improve health outcomes.

“Preventive care plays a key role in early detection and long-term health,” said Kasey Mullins, RN, MSN, Director of Nursing, Cheyenne Laramie County Public Health. “Routine screenings, vaccines and wellness visits help individuals address concerns before they become serious.”

January is Cervical Health Awareness Month and includes HPV Prevention Week. The HPV vaccine helps prevent several types of cancer, including cervical cancer. It is available through Cheyenne Laramie County Public Health and is recommended for routine vaccination at age 11 or 12 years.

Many preventative services are also available at Cheyenne Laramie County Public Health, including sexually transmitted disease screenings, annual reproductive wellness exams, and immunizations. If additional testing is needed, Cheyenne Laramie County Public Health can assist eligible individuals with enrollment in the Wyoming Cancer Program, which provides access to diagnostic services.

“We’d like to remind the public that we are here to serve everyone in Laramie County,” said Kathy Emmons, Executive Director of Cheyenne Laramie County Public Health. “Anyone can use our services – no matter your income, no matter if you have insurance or not. We encourage everyone to make your health a priority this year.”
