Cheyenne Laramie County Public Health celebrates National Public Health Week

National Public Health Week is an annual event organized by the American Public Health Association (APHA). It aims to celebrate public health workers and the field of public health. Each year APHA develops campaigns to educate the public, policymakers, and providers. This year’s theme, “It Starts Here,” marks the 30th anniversary of National Public Health Week during the week of April 7-13, 2025.

Public Health is more than clinics; it’s clean water, safe food, loving relationships with our children, proper nutrition, preventative healthcare, education, and responding to health crises.

Throughout the week, Cheyenne Laramie County Public Health will host events for staff to show appreciation for the work they do for our community. CLCPH will also look back at public health campaigns that have helped create safer, stronger, and healthier communities over the last 30 years, shared through our social media channels.

“The theme this year, “It Starts Here” is such a great statement, because it really does take every person and every program within Cheyenne Laramie County Public Health to reach successful health for our community.” said Cheyenne Laramie County Public Health Executive Director, Dr. Kathy Emmons. “Our staff are small but mighty, and they touch the lives of many people in Laramie County.”

We invite the public to embrace the theme of “It Starts Here” during National Public Health Week and throughout the year. It starts with each of us – through partnerships, healthy choices, and advocating – together we can protect, promote and enhance community health for everyone in Laramie County.
